"The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physcial function, or relieve pain." Massage Therapy Act, 1991
Massage Therapy is a natural approach to healing, and it affects the systems of the body; musculo-skeletal, integumentary, digestive, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, endocrine, and nervous systems.
People who are affected by arthritis, injuries, stress, anxiety, pain or tingling in arms or legs, joint restrictions, back pain, poor posture, painful or tight muscles, fluid retention, women who are pregnant, athletes, and children are all great candidates for massage therapy.
Massage Therapy is both a preventative and a recovery approach to maintaining and increasing muscle and joint function while reducing pain. It is an excellent treatment on its own, but can be utilized greatly in conjunction with other therapies such as acupuncture and chiropractic as well as exercise and rehabilitation (from injury, surgery and disease).
